“As a brand new Christian (over 20 years ago) I was still steeped in evolutionary thinking due to my schooling. The catalyst for my second conversion to biblical creation was upon hearing Dr. Steve Austin give a presentation in my home state of Western Australia about the volcanic eruption of Mount St Helens that occurred in Washington State in 1980. Even today, as CEO of Creation Ministries International (US), I still show research from Dr. Austin in my talks to show that the vast deposits of sedimentary layers that we see all over the earth (and its corollary, the belief that they represent millions of years of Earth’s history) could be formed rapidly due to catastrophic forces as in the case of Mount St Helens.
