The ACG will be having its first annual picnic on Saturday, July 11, 2009, at Nickajack Park in Cobb County, just one mile off of I-285 at the SOUTH COBB DRIVE exit on the West side of Atlanta. It is located near 3630 Oakdale Road, Mableton, GA 30126. There will be no agenda except to fellowship, eat and have fun with families and friends. It will be a time to just get to know each other and share Creation lore and legion.
Please bring your own tableware and a food selection of either a vegetable, fruit, salad or dessert to share. Unless you like picnic table seating you might want to bring a comfortable lawn chair or equivalent. The picnic will be from 12PM to 4PM and we will eat around 1PM. Feel free to come and go as you please. For your comfort, the park has indoor park-style men and women’s bathrooms. There is also a kid’s playground and lots of grass.
ACG will provide meat (it will likely be BBQ) and drinks. Donations will help with the food and are suggested at $5 for individuals and $15 for a family of any size. Any surplus will go into the group’s funds. Chris Brooks and his wife will be hosting this event.
To get to our shelter: There are two picnic shelters at Nickajack Park. We will be at the farthest one. When you enter the park there will be a “T” intersection. Take a left and go all the way to the end of the parking area. As you approach the end of the parking lot, you will look up the wooded hill at the end of the lot and see the two shelters. We will be in the one on the right, the farthest. You will have to walk up the hill with all your gear. It is about a 200-yard walk up a gentle slope to the shelter.
Please RSVP to Chris as soon as possible, but no later than Thursday July 9, 2009, by phone 770-422-0079 or by email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . If you forget to RSVP, come anyway. We will have enough.
